¡®Don't Shout At Me¡¯: Why CJI DY Chandrachud Scolded Lawyer During Electoral Bond Hearing
The Supreme Court witnessed a tense moment on March 18 during the hearing on electoral bonds. Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, rebuked advocate Mathews Nedumpara for arguing over him. Nedumpara had claimed that the judgment on electoral bonds was delivered without citizens' knowledge. CJI Chandrachud firmly responded, "Don't shout at me! This is not a Hyde Park corner meeting; you are in court." The bench directed the State Bank of India to disclose all details, including the unique alphanumeric numbers of Electoral Bonds, to the Election Commission of India.
