PM Modi inaugurates India¡¯s First underwater metro line in Kolkata
India has launched its first underwater metro line, connecting Kolkata and Howrah in West Bengal. The 4.8 km East-West metro stretch, constructed at a cost of ?4,965 crore, includes the country's deepest metro station. The underwater tunnel, navigating 32 meters below the water level, is part of a larger project worth ?15,400 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the route and was seen riding with school students aboard the inaugural underwater metro train at Mahakaran metro station. This development marks a significant milestone in India's transportation infrastructure.
