Veteran singer Usha Uthup and actor Mithun Chakraborty were conferred the prestigious Padma Bhushan award by President Draupadi Murmu for their outstanding contributions to the Indian film industry. Uthup, known for her powerhouse voice and unique style, has been a trailblazer in jazz music for over five decades, captivating audiences with hits like "Ramba Ho Ho" and "Hari Om Hari." Mithun Da, as he is fondly called, has enjoyed a prolific career since his debut in 1976, winning accolades for his versatile acting and iconic disco moves. Pyarelal Sharma, part of the iconic music duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, also received the Padma Bhushan for his legendary contributions to music, marking a total of 132 recipients in the 2024 awards list.
