2024 is being seen as a super year for?travel?lovers, as a lot of long weekends are going to take place this year, with many holidays falling on either Mondays or Fridays. But it seems that?2023 will be no less an enthusiastic year for travel lovers. People were in full holiday mood and flew all over the country to hit the highest ever number of domestic passengers in the recently concluded year 2023.
As per the recently revealed data from DGCA, India's domestic?air passenger traffic?hit a record high of 15.20 crore in the calendar year 2023. This is 8.34% higher than the total domestic passenger volume of 2022,?which was recorded at 12.32 crore.?
IndiGo flew 9.19 crore passengers in 2023, accounting for 60.5% of all domestic passenger traffic.
Tata Group's Air India transported 1.47 domestic passengers and held a 9.7% market share.
With 1.38 crore passengers, Vistara held a 9.1 percent market share in 2023.
?With a total of 83.90 lakh passengers carried in 2023, SpiceJet's percentage of all domestic passengers was 5.5%.
According to DGCA data, Akasa Air carried 62.32 lakh passengers, accounting for 4.1% of the market.?
As per PTI report, data shows that?Akasa Air performed the best when it came to on-time departures?and takes offs from the four major metropolises of Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore in 2023, with an average of 72.7% of its flights departing or taking off on time.? ?
The data indicates that 422 complaints, out of a total of 712 complaints, were filed against SpiceJet.
