Forbes World¡¯s Billionaires List 2024:?India has seen a big rise in billionaires this year, with 25 new ones added, bringing the total to 200 from 169 last year, according to the latest 'Forbes World¡¯s Billionaires List 2024'. Together, these Indian billionaires now have a combined wealth of $954 billion, which is 41 per cent more than the $675 billion they had last year.
At the top of the Indian billionaire list is Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), with a net worth of $116 billion. He's followed by Gautam Adani ($84 billion), Shiv Nadar ($36.9 billion), Savitri Jindal & Family ($33.5 billion), and Dilip Shanghvi ($26.7 billion).
Globally, there are now 2,781 billionaires, which is 141 more than last year and 26 more than the previous record set in 2021. Together, they're worth $14.2 trillion, up by $2 trillion from 2023 and $1.1 trillion above the previous record, according to the 'Forbes World¡¯s Billionaires List 2024: The Top 200'.
While most billionaires have gotten richer, some have become poorer. The top 20 billionaires have added $700 billion to their wealth since 2023. The U.S. leads with 813 billionaires worth $5.7 trillion, while China is second with 473 billionaires worth $1.7 trillion, despite facing challenges like weak consumer spending and a real estate downturn.
