The upcoming budget that will be presented on February 1st will be an interim one, since the nation is set to go for Lok Sabha elections in April-May, The full Union Budget will be presented later this year in July by whoever forms the govt post election results.
India¡¯s FM Sitharaman will present the interim Budget 2024 on February 1st, at 11 am. The Budget session in the parliament is expected to begin on 31st January.
The last Interim Budget happened in 2019, which was presented by the then Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on 1st February.
FM Sitharaman had last month indicated that the upcoming interim Budget 2024 will not have any spectacular announcements. Since its an interim and not full budget, FM Sitharaman mentioned that the 1st Feb¡¯s Budget will only be tabled for the expenditure of the government till a new government is formed after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections that are scheduled to take place in April-May.
