In a recently revealed list of the world's top 10 cities with the most billionaires, Mumbai has turned out to be the only Indian city that made it to the list. Mumbai had earlier topped the list of Indian cities with the most millionaires earlier this year.
Wealth X, which is a US-based?leading global wealth information and business analysis firm,?released its annual report on the world¡¯s billionaire population??The tenth edition of the Billionaire Census report reveals that the global billionaire population fell by 3.5% to 3,194 individuals in 2022. Even the?total net worth of the billionaires in 2022 declined by 5.5%, to $ 11.1 trillion. This was the second-largest annual fall in the past decade.
The report looked at a database of 11 million influential individuals and 1.8 million organizations to assess and provide insight into where billionaires live based on what they use as their primary business address, as per CNBC report.
Overall, the report found the top-ranked cities were home to 29% of all billionaires in 2022.?Almost all of the ones that made the list were major global cities, which proves that the allure of high-end businesses and cultural and lifestyle opportunities remains strong for billionaires.

New York City topped the list with 136 billionaires in 2022.?The city¡¯s ultra-rich population lost two people from 2021 to 2022, but it¡¯s still the global billionaire capital.?New York is home to the world¡¯s largest stock markets, New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, and is also considered the biggest regional economy in the U.S., according to the report.?
Of the top-ranked cities, Singapore made the strongest gains in billionaire numbers, becoming home to 54 billionaires in 2022.
The Billionaire Census 2023?examines the changes in the net worth and total population by region and city.?The Billionaire Census 2023?includes an analysis of the population by age group and finds self-made wealth dominates across all billionaire age groups. In addition to the source of wealth, the age analysis also includes industry affiliation, asset allocation, interests, passions and hobbies.?
Among the numerous findings, the report reveals the top 15 billionaire countries are home to three-quarters of the global billionaire population. underlining the influential status of this select group of wealth markets and the focused opportunities for companies and organizations that engage with the super-wealthy.
The top three spots are taken by the US (955 billionaires), China (357) and Germany (173), as per the report.
