At a time when the debate whether AI is a boon or bane does not seem to be ending anytime soon, the CEO of NVIDIA, which is one of the world's few trillion dollar companies, has issued a warning for the IT sector's future.
CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, has agreed that AI will have an impact on the labor market and says that anyone can become a programmer with this new technology, so children don't need to learn how to code.
The Nvidia CEO can be seen speaking at an event in a video that has gone viral. He claims that a decade or so ago, the consensus was that everyone should learn how to code.??
Now, however, things are entirely different because of artificial intelligence; everyone is a programmer. He also said that children don't need to learn how to program and that it is our responsibility to develop technology that will enable human language to be used in programming. Put another way, computers should be able to understand human speech, negating the need for coding languages like C++ or Java, as per India Today report.
He said, "Over the last 10-15 years, almost everybody who sits on a stage like this would tell you that it is vital that your children learn computer science, everybody should learn how to program. In fact, it is almost exactly the opposite. It is our job to create computing technology such that nobody has to program, and that the programming language is human. Everybody in the world is now a programmer. This is the miracle of AI."
He then added, "You now have a computer that will do what you tell it to do. It is vital that we upskill everyone and the upskilling process will be delightful and surprising."
The CEO of Nvidia has previously discussed the widespread impact of AI on a variety of industries. Nvidia, one of the biggest chip companies in the world, was instrumental in the creation of ChatGPT, which made use of thousands of Nvidia GPUs.
Speaking to an assembly at the Computex conference in Taiwan the previous year, Huang had proclaimed the "digital divide" to be over. He emphasized how AI is ushering in a new era of computing, one in which previously unthinkable feats are made possible. Huang emphasised how accessible programming is in the modern world, saying that anyone can learn to programme by just using computers.?
Nvidia CEO Huang had said back then, "The programming barrier is incredibly low. We have closed the digital divide. Everyone is a programmer now - you just have to say something to the computer."
Underlining AI's rapid advancement, Huang attributed its growth to its user-friendliness. He had predicted AI's widespread integration into every industry, marking a significant transformation in the technological landscape.
In May 2023,?American tech giant?Nvidia had become the world¡¯s first chipmaker and only the ninth company in the world to hit the $ 1 trillion market cap.
