The beauty of social media is that everyone gets to voice their opinion. The downside is that these opinions sometimes cause controversies which are witnessed by a massive audience.
A similar situation occurred recently when an X user called out beauty brand Mamaearth. She advised everyone to throw its products in the ¡®dustin¡¯.?
Aditi(@Sassy_Soul_), an X user with over 80,000 followers, posted a photo featuring Mamaearth's Vitamin C and Uptan facewash and wrote.: "If you see these products anywhere, immediately pick them up, throw them in the dustbin, and run away."
Her tweet was met with a bevy of responses where a lot of people voiced their agreement with her statement. It was only a matter of time when her viral post reached the co-founder of the brand Ghazal Alagh.?
Responding to the post, Mamaearth co-founder Alagh wrote, "Just sorry you woke up with a lot of hate. I hope you feel better soon. I would have loved to address if there was a problem. But I couldn¡¯t find any apart from you hopping onto a Twitter trend and finding a picture of the products. Quality on Mamaearth is my personal guarantee, and I am here to address each and every concern that you, or anyone on Twitter might have. I am DM away and if any of my consumers have feedback or issue with any Mamaearth product, I will get back to them."
It did not end at that. Aditi then posted a separate tweet, in which she voiced her concerns with Mamaearth products. She wrote,?
Seemingly, the user then went on to write a separate tweet saying that the brand has invested more money on marketing than on product development.?
This discussion has left users divided on X, with some advocating for the company's products, while others concurred that the items did not live up to their advertised effectiveness.
