India recorded 78,761 cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours which is a new single-day record for any country in the world. The death toll is at 63,498.
Many states in India are showing a surge in COVID-19 cases. States like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Odisha, Telangana are reporting more cases than they were just a week ago.
The use of masks and smart cards will be mandatory as the Delhi Metro starts services next month in the new phase of un-lockdown. The number of passengers will be limited as well.
Unlock 4.0 guidelines have been released and according to these guidelines, states can no longer impose lockdowns outside containment zones without the Centre¡¯s permission.
Globally there are more than 2 crores 50 lakh cases of COVID-19 with over 8 lakh 40 thousand deaths. After the US and Latin America, India has possibly become the next global hotspot.
