While others were showing electric concepts, Mahindra took the wraps off its production ready electric mini-SUV, the eKUV100. Yes, the new car swaps the combustion engine in the KUV100 with batteries and electric motor. It will be available on sale for a price of Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom) in Delhi which also includes FAME-II benefits. This makes it India¡¯s most affordable electric SUV.
The eKUV looks exactly like its petrol powered cousin, except for a closed grille (for better aero and no need for cooling a hot engine). It also gets black alloy wheels, body cladding and an ME (Mahindra Electric) badge on the fender.
Mahindra is claiming a range of 147 km on a single charge from its 15.9kWh battery pack and electric motor which is good for 54bhp. The eKUV can be charged up to 80% within one hour.
But it was not the only electric SUV that Mahindra had at the pavilion though. There was also the eXUV300. This eXUV300 will be launched in second half of 2021. It too has an aerodynamic front end without a traditional grille. It also showcases what future Mahindra electric cars will look like.
