Tata Motors surprised everyone today with the resurrection of the legendary Sierra name plate at the Auto Expo 2020. The wraps were taken off the electric SUV concept that harks back to the design of the original Tata Sierra from the 90s.
A modern interpretation of everyone¡¯s favourite SUV from two decades ago, the Tata Sierra stays true to the original with three doors and curved fixed windows at the back. Truly, some designs never get old.
Though it may be a homage to an old car, underneath it¡¯s thoroughly modern, based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture. The same platform as the new Altroz hatchback. The architecture is flexible enough to cater to different body styles such as SUVs, hatchbacks and sedans.
Design wise the Tata Sierra has a lot of visual bulk that is fitting for an SUV. Lots of straight lines and edges are punctuated with slim headlamps. The fixed windows make the cabin airy and let in lots of light. The Sierra is an electric concept for now, but we believe that it will spawn a new production SUV that will go up against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.Like this story? Share via Whatsapp
