From Shotgun 650 To Himalayan 450: Here Are The Upcoming Royal Enfield Motorcycles

Royal Enfield is the oldest global motorcycle brand in the world that is still ruling the roads. In November 2022, the brand registered a YoY growth of 37% and managed to sell over 70,000 motorcycles which compared to last year in the same month was somewhere around 51,654 units.

Recently, the brand unveiled its most awaited motorcycle, the Super Meteor 650 at EICMA in Italy and Rider Mania in Goa. It received a great initial response from global consumers and many believe it will create a strong niche in the global cruiser market.

But do you know that Royal Enfield is also working on upgrading its other products like the Himalayan, Bullet 350 while developing new models? You will see them on the roads soon. Meanwhile, let's learn about Royal Enfield's upcoming bikes:

Super Meteor 650

Royal Enfield unveiled the highly anticipated Super Meteor 650 at the EICMA 2022 motor show in Milan, Italy, on November 8, 2022, and recently at Rider Mania in Goa. It is expected to officially launch in early 2023 with a price range of Rs 3.5-4 lakh. However, Royal Enfield has opened the bookings for Super Meteor 650 for Rider Mania attendees.

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is going to be one of India's most affordable cruiser bikes with the same 650cc parallel-twin engine that powers the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650.

If we talk about Super Meteor 650's specification then this upgraded version of Meteor 350 comes with a 650cc parallel-twin, air and oil-cooled motor that produces 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque, now this cruiser bike comes with a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch. The cruiser bike comes with upside-down forks in the front and interestingly this is the first bike from Royal Enfield that has this feature. With dual-channel ABS the Super Meteor 650 has a 19-inch front-16-inch rear Tubeless Tyre and both come with disc brakes. The 241 Kg cruiser bike has many other features like - an all-LED headlamp, Push Button Start, 135 mm of Ground clearance, 15.7 litres of Fuel Tank Capacity, digital tachometer, Bluetooth connectivity, maps, etc.

Himalayan 450

Currently, Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 is a favourite with a long rider and also one of the highest-selling bikes of the brand. Now the company is expected to launch its upgraded version with 450cc with a liquid-cooled engine and 6-speed gearbox with an expected price range of Rs 2,60,000 to Rs 2,70,000 next year.

The current Himalayan 411 produces 24 bhp and 32 Nm of torque and according to various reports, the 450cc version will likely make around 30 bhp and 40 Nm of torque. It is also expected that the Himalayan 450 will come with a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels setup that is currently fitted in Himalayan 411 but they will be tubeless spoked rims.

New Bullet 350 based on J-platform

There is also a possibility that Royal Enfield will manufacture an all-new Bullet 350 for the Indian market that will use the J-Platform single-cylinder 349 cc engine which is currently seen in the Meteor 350 and Classic 350.

Speaking of features, the new bullet is likely to get a new instrument cluster along with the Tripper Navigation system. The price of the new Bullet 350 is expected to be Rs 1.7 lakh ex-showroom eliminating the kick-start version that starts from Rs 1.48 lakh, and goes up to Rs 1.63 lakh.

Himalayan 650

It's not officially announced by RE but it is expected that the brand will soon launch Himalayan 650 and work on it. The ADV bike is likely to become with wire-spoke wheels in off-road sizes, with the front rim visibly larger in diameter than the rear.

According to reports, the bike price is well under Rs 4 lakh and could come launched with a new name. Bike lovers were expecting that the Himalayan 650 would be an adventure vehicle like the Himalayan 411, but reportedly it is not.

In two variants, it will be a soft-roader. There will be an alloy wheel variant and a spoke wheel variant. Alloy wheels will continue to be used for sports tourers, while spoke wheels will continue to be used for adventure tourers.

Reports further claim that the Himalayan 650 might come with a digital TFT screen along with Bluetooth connectivity and ride-by wire, a Traction Control system, multiple riding modes, etc.

Shotgun 650

Royal Enfield unveiled the concept of its upcoming parallel-twin engine bobber-style motorcycle SG650 at EICMA 2021 motor show in Milan and many auto media websites considered it as Shotgun 650.

The upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 could become a cheaper alternative to the bobber-style bikes of expensive brands like Harley Davidson and Indian Motorcycles in India. It is expected that the company will launch this bike with a price range of Rs 3.5-4 lakh ex-showroom.

However, as soon as the company makes an official announcement about it, only then will some details be clear. On the other hand, talking about the possible look and features of the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, it will have many special features including round shape headlamp, split seat, twin shock absorber, USD front forks, bar-end mirrors, chunky tyres, ABS, dual disc brakes at the front, large fuel tank, large tires as well as semi-digital instrument console and tripper navigation.

It isn't clear what the mechanical specifications will be, but we expect them to be similar to the Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650. There is a parallel-twin engine with 648cc on both the Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 that produces 47bhp at 7,250 rpm and 52Nm of peak torque at 5,250 rpm.
