UK Company Unveils Life-size Electric Vehicle Inspired By RC Cars

If you've ever wanted to point a growth ray at your childhood toys, The Little Car Company in the United Kingdom has you covered.

According to Car and Driver, the organisation has constructed an adult-sized version of the Tamiya Wild One RC car that took the youngster world by storm in the 1980s.

This is a fully electric car with eight swappable battery packs and an advertised range of 124 miles. With a top speed of 62mph, the Wild One Max has plenty of peps. The primary draw, however, is how closely this full-size car mimics its toy counterpart. Take a look at this.

Even better? The EV will make its public debut next weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England, where several automakers exhibit bizarre vehicle concept designs.

This is more than just a concept car, though, since it will be street-legal and available for buy for roughly $45,000. However, you won't be able to traverse the hills of Virginia in this beast because it will only be available in the UK due to US-based federal vehicle requirements.

The Tamiya Wild One Max was first introduced in 2021, but the design has since evolved dramatically. It's bigger, more powerful, and, of course, more expensive than the initial design, which was supposed to cost roughly $8,500.

The new design also has a reworked front suspension system, a two-person interior, and an overall weight of 1,100 pounds.

Interestingly, The Little Car Company is better recognised for downsizing historic cars into smaller-sized souvenirs rather than the reverse. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids appears to have evolved into Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.

If you live in Europe and have some spare cash, you can add an optional Road Pack to your EV that includes a windscreen, a set of tiny wipers, mirrors, mudguards, and removable lights. Although this vehicle qualifies as a quadricycle in Europe, allowing it to be registered for road use, it cannot be driven on highways.
