Holi 2024: 7 Steps to Safeguard Your Pets During The Celebration!
Holi is loud. The loud music, people screaming, vehicles honking for no reason and people throwing colours can make your pet feel unsafe, anxious or frightened. Here are some things that you should do to make your pet feel safe.
Holi is finally here, and if you are interested in playing Holi with your pet friend, here are 7 essential things that you keep in mind,
1. Comfortable and Safe
Holi can be loud. The loud music, people screaming, and vehicles honking for no reason can make your pet feel unsafe, anxious or frightened. So, have them in a safe environment where they feel relaxed.
2. Protect their eyes
If you or someone else tries to play Holi with your pet, try that they don't. But if you do want to put a tilak, then PLEASE be aware of not putting colours in their eyes by mistake. So, you use goggles or glasses for them. Be mindful that some dogs don't like things on their faces and might feel anxious or agitated.
3. Keep them hydrated
Holi is a festival where we want to be free and enjoy ourselves to the max, and while doing it, we may forget about our dogs. So, have a water bowl ready near them and give them water to drink at intervals.
4. Don't force
Pets don't understand many things humans do and why they do it. It is possible that your dog may not just like you putting colours or forcing him to dance, so do not force them. Let them do whatever they want, even if it is their favourite activity, sleep.
5. Do not use chemicals
We recommend not using any colour as it might cause some allergies, like rashes or itching. But if you still want to use colours, do consult a vet.
6. Supervise the pet
These curious animals shouldn't be left alone. So it is recommended to monitor them. Supervise the pet during Holi or just any other festival.
7. Don't let your pet roam outside
Lastly, don't let your pet roam around outside on the road. During Holi, people are drunk, and they do things that they shouldn't be doing. So, it is best not to let your dog roam on the roads.
