Much Like Tom Hanks In 'Cast Away,' This 79-YO Man Lived Alone On An Island. For 28 Years.
Mauro Morandi lives alone all by himself on an Italian island and earned a legion of followers after he shared his life that he documented from this lone time. Being alone on an island means no communication no help homegrown food regular encounters with the wild animal no medical aid no luxury no entertainment and more.
Tell you what, all of us got so pumped up after watching Tom Hanks in the iconic Castaway that we too wanted to get stranded on an island - in our good and bad times, for different reasons.

But do we all understand the gravity of this situation? Being alone on an island means no communication, no help, homegrown food, regular encounters with the wild animal, no medical aid, no luxury, no entertainment and more.
So while must of us may or may not have the guts to bear it, a 79-year-old man does.
Mauro Morandi lives alone, all by himself on an Italian island and earned a legion of followers after he shared his life that he documented from this lone time.
The gorgeous Isle of Budelli is Mauro's home since 1989, nearly 28 years.
Mauro was disillusioned with the modern society and the way things were turning out. He just wanted some time off, away from everyone. With that in mind, he inherited the caretaker's shack at this island and never returned to his normal life.
And so, from then on, he lived there alone, near a rosy-sandy beach called La Spiaggia Rosa. Over the years, Mauro has woken up to beautiful days and even gorgeous sunrises.
All these years, he kept this life as a secret and had been enjoying all the views by himself. It is only now, in the last couple of years that he began to share it on social media.
He even had a long-distance girlfriend with he'd broken up recently. She visited him for 15 days in a year.
But it is not as if he has lived without any human interaction all these years. Mauro is visited by 1,300 tourists to the island in the summer. He also travels to Modena to see his two daughters a few times a year.
'If I had to go, maybe I would go to Sardinia and I would live by the sea but I wouldn't go back to a big city¡ I wouldn't make it,' he told DailyMail.
Unfortunately, in 2016, the government took over the island and made it part of La Maddalena National Park.
'The island has been acquired by the state and I am here until the new president of the park decides what to do with me,' he told CNN.
