In 1989, the boxing champ accepted the invitation of the late K.P. Hassan Haji, former secretary of JDT Islam to visit their orphanage and school. Ali, along with his wife visited the orphanage without any airs of stardom.
They stayed in Kozhikode for a week, where the Ali¡¯s tried out the Kozhikode cuisine and the boxer specifically loved the fish and mutton biryani. They also devoured local Kozhikode delicacies like Unnakayi, Chattipathiri and Muttamala. During the time of his stay, superstar Mammootty had a chance to meet and greet him.
