From Nayanthara to Alia Bhatt: 5 actresses who shared unfiltered thoughts on plastic surgery
While the Indian actresses make sure they maintain their oh-so-gorgeous appearance, many assume it's a gift from the doctor. However, here¡¯s a look at five actresses who spoke boldly about plastic surgery.
The plastic surgery debate can never get old in Bollywood and by default, the prime target of these conversations has mostly been female actors. While the internet is free to assume if the beauty of a diva is a god¡¯s gift or that of a doctor, here are 5 actresses who publicly spoke unfiltered about plastic surgery and these statements were as bold as they can get.
1. Nayanthara
During a recent conversation with Hautterfly, the south star revealed why her changing brows over the years have made people assume she has done something to her face. Nayanthara while explaining her pre-red carpet ritual said, ¡°I take the time to perfect it (brows) because it¡¯s the real game changer. I¡¯ve had different brow phases over the years. Maybe that¡¯s why people think my face is changing and I keep looking different. Maybe that¡¯s why a lot of people think I¡¯ve done something to my face.¡±
¡°But that¡¯s not true. On record¡not true. Not that it¡¯s wrong. But for me, it has just been diet, so there¡¯s been a lot of weight fluctuation and my cheeks go in and out. You can pinch me, burn me, you¡¯ll know there¡¯s no plastic in here,¡± the Jawan actress added. While many considered this as a motivation to embrace your natural beauty, others thought Nayanthara was just covering up her doctor¡¯s visit.
2. Alia Bhatt
It was very recently that the Jigra actress penned a long on her Instagram story after several social media users claimed that her failed cosmetic surgery had caused her face paralysis. She started by mentioning, ¡°Absolutely NO JUDGEMENT towards anyone who chooses cosmetic corrections or surgery ¨C your body, your choice¡±.
Alia further called the assumptions ¡®beyond ridiculous¡¯ and called out trolls' hypercritical, microscopic judgment of a human face. ¡°And now you¡¯re confidently tossing around ¡®scientific¡± explanations, claiming I¡¯m paralysed on one side? Are you kidding me? These are SERIOUS claims being casually thrown out there with zero proof, no confirmation, and absolutely nothing to back it up,¡± she added.
3. Shruti Haasan
Shruti has been on the other side of the table where she despite defending any allegations accepted that she did undergo a corrective surgery on her nose. Clarifying that she doesn¡¯t promote plastic surgery, Shruti once told Hindustan Times, ¡°As far as my nose surgery goes, it's a choice I made, even after my first film was done because my nose was broken. I didn't like the way it felt. I didn't like the way it looked. It was a personal choice. Nobody asked me to fix it."
4. Priyanka Chopra
In a case of surgery gone wrong, the Desi girl accepted her surgery which was drastically depressing. In 2023, she appeared on Howard Stern¡¯s radio show where Priyanka spoke about how an early 2000s surgery to remove a polyp in her nasal cavity left the shape of her nose in bad shape and pushed her into "deep, deep depression."
She even admitted how it was just the start of her career and due to the drastic change in her facial features, she lost on three major projects in one go. On her father¡¯s recommendation, Priyanka later underwent a corrective surgery and it was successful.
5. Kriti Sanon
¡°If you¡¯re in a profession like this which is based on vanity, there is a part of you that wants to look good,¡± the Do Patti actress recently told Filmfare. Kriti has been a constant target of the trolls because of her perfectly shaped features making the internet wonder if she went under the knife for several corrections.
Sanon in the same conversation said that she never judges people who get it done. ¡°If you feel more confident by changing some part of you, it¡¯s up to you. Then it¡¯s your decision. You have to face whatever happens with that decision. You may be like ¡®Oh, what did I do?¡¯ So that¡¯s your decision. It¡¯s your life, your body, your face. I don¡¯t feel the judgement of it,¡± Kriti expressed.
