Not a remake!
Christian Bale's critically acclaimed portrayal of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho left an indelible mark on pop culture, and now Austin Butler is ready to put his own spin on the character. However, the upcoming film will not be a remake of the 2000 movie, but rather a brand-new adaptation of Ellis' novel, offering a new perspective on the classic tale.
With a fresh script by Scott Z. Burns, Guadagnino, known for Call Me by Your Name, Challengers, and Suspiri will bring his unique vision to the project, with reports suggesting he will shift focus to eroticism.
Austin Butler was not the first choice for the role
Now that he has landed the role, we cannot see anyone but Austin Butler as Patrick Bateman from the current lot but did you know he was not the first choice for the part? The actor has edged out Jacob Elordi, who was previously tipped for the role but couldn't secure it for undisclosed reasons.
Interestingly, both Butler and Elordi share another connection. The actors played Elvis Presley in different films, with Butler starring in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis (2022) and Elordi in Sofia Coppola's Priscilla (2023).

The novel slices through the glittery world of yuppie culture, exploring themes of identity, narcissism, and moral decay.
