Barroz, Mohanlal¡¯s first film as a director, is off to a great start at the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, the fantasy drama netted Rs 3.7 crore on its first day. The film made a good impact in Kerala but didn't find many takers in other markets. It faced competition from Marco in Kerala. Similarly, Pushpa 2 and Baby John are the flavour of the festive season in the Hindi market. Barroz also faced stiff competition from Max and Upendra¡¯s UI in Karnataka.
Barroz is expected to stay stable today December 26) and witness good growth over the (extended) weekend. It is also likely to benefit on New Year¡¯s Day.
About Barroz
Mohanlal, one of Malayalam cinema¡¯s biggest names, made his directorial debut with Barroz. The children¡¯s fantasy drama centres on the events that take place when the protagonist, a ghost, tries to protect Vasco Da Gama¡¯s treasure from a group of children. The film is headlined by Mohanlal. Its cast includes Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton,and Tuhin.. Prithviraj, who directed Mohanlal in Lucifer, was cast in a key role in the flick but opted out as he wanted to concentrate on Blessy¡¯s survival drama Aadujeevitham. Barroz is produced by Antony Perumbavoor, best known for backing the Drishyam franchise. The children¡¯s film hit the screens on December 25 and is currently playing in theatres.
