Anime to watch with family on Netflix
1. Spirited Away
Japanese animated fantasy film Spirited Away, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, was released in 2001. The film Spirited Away narrates the tale of Chihiro "Sen" Ogino, a ten-year-old girl who, during her move to a new neighborhood, unintentionally stumbles onto the realm of kami, who are Japanese Shinto ghosts.
2. Howl's Moving Castle
Hayao Miyazaki is the writer and director of the 2004 Japanese animated fantasy film Howl's Moving Castle. It is mostly based on British author Diana Wynne Jones' 1986 book. The movie is set in a made-up kingdom during a conflict with another kingdom, where magic and early 20th-century technology coexist.
3. Ponyo
The 2008 animated fantasy film Ponyo was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki in Japan. Studio Ghibli did the animation for it. The movie narrates the tale of Ponyo, a goldfish that gets washed up on the shoreline stuck in a glass jar and then escapes the ocean with the aid of S¨suke, a five-year-old human boy.
4. My Neighbor Totoro
Hayao Miyazaki wrote and directed the 1988 Japanese fantasy film My Neighbor Totoro, which Studio Ghibli animated for Tokuma Shoten. With Noriko Hidaka, Chika Sakamoto, and Hitoshi Takagi providing the voices, it centers on two little sisters in rural Japan during the postwar era and their interactions with amiable wood spirits.
5. The Secret World of Arrietty
Based on the 1952 children's book The Borrowers by English children's book author Mary Norton, the script by Hayao Miyazaki and Keiko Niwa tells the story of a family of tiny people that live covertly in the walls and floors of an ordinary home and must borrow goods from humans in order to survive. The story of a young Borrower (Shida) who befriends a human child (Kamiki) while attempting to avoid being discovered by other humans is told in the film, which features the voices of Mirai Shida and Ryunosuke Kamiki.
