Vijay Sethupathi is all set to make his Hindi feature film debut on OTT after impressing the audiences with his Hindi web series debut in Farzi opposite Shahid Kapoor. With this film, Mumbaikar, directed by Santosh Sivan, Vijay Sethupathi makes his Hindi film debut.
Mumbaikar is the Hindi version of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Tamil film, Maanagaram.
The city of dreams - Mumbai itself will play a crucial character in Mumbaikar, a thriller that follows the Hyperlink narrative connecting four young individuals from different origins, and its settings will become an essential component of the drama.

Santosh previously claimed that Mumbai has a distinctive vibe just like any other city and that the name has come to represent for the everlasting desire to succeed, according to OTT Play. Mumbai is like a magnet for people. Aspirants hail from all reaches of India and all major religions. Many people view this location as their nirvana, their source of enchantment, and their light of hope.
Here, a total stranger can change the course of your life, and a beating heart can be located in the middle of the metropolis! Being a Mumbaikar is a sense, despite Mumbai being a large metropolis. He also added that a unique and varied selection of actors from several nations make up the cast.
For the unversed, Sethupathi has been described as a humble individual by Vikrant Massey, who will be sharing the screen with the actor for the first time.
¡°He is a dream to work with. Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of work with him. I have only worked with him for three nights. But I will always cherish those three nights, he is such a humble man. Just loved working with him," Vikrant told IndiaToday.
Last year, Karan Johar shared the first-look poster of the film on Twitter and wrote, "Promises to be a stunning cinematic experience! A @santoshsivan film!!! @VijaySethuOffl @masseysahib #tanyamaniktala #hridhuharoon #sanjaymishra @RanvirShorey #sachinkhedekar my best wishes to this exceptionally talented team of artists (sic)."

Since people's reactions to Vijay speaking in Hindi in Farzi were divided, it will be intriguing to watch how he performs in a Hindi film this time.
On June 2, 2023, the movie will have its JioCinema premiere instead of a usual theatre debut.
