About The Railway Men

The focus of the OTT series is on the unsung heroes of India's railway industry, who made several contributions to save the lives of hundreds of defenseless individuals who were stranded in Bhopal on the fatal night of the gas leak.

Thousands of people were killed instantly on December 3, 1984, after midnight, when deadly gas leaked from the Union Carbide facility in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.

According to official figures, 3,787 people perished in the Bhopal gas tragedy. The initial official estimate, which said that 2,259 persons had perished as a result of the Union Carbide factory gas leak, was later amended by the Madhya Pradesh government.

The fresh morning air picked up speed, carrying the poisonous gas that was seeping out of the facility and killing people awake and asleep around the city. It is anticipated that approximately 40 tons of methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas and other chemicals leaked from the Union Carbide site. When the concentration of methyl isocyanate in the air exceeds 21 parts per million, it is a very dangerous chemical that can kill a person minutes after they breathe it in.
