With almost Rs 2,000 crore down the drain, Russo Brothers¡¯ Citadel was supposed to have an Indian spin-off with Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan in the lead. After a lot of wait, the teaser of Citadel: Honey Bunny was released recently. Directed by Raj and DK of The Family Man fame, the show features Samantha as Honey and Varun Dhawan as Bunny, both playing spies.

The teaser starts with the track Raat Baaqi Baat Baaqi playing in the background. It blends gritty spy thrills, high-octane action, and a love story, all set against the vibrant backdrop of the 90s. Viewers get a glimpse of Samantha and Varun in intense field action, along with a touch of their romance. The teaser concludes with Samantha aiming a gun at Varun, leaving a strong impression.

By the looks of it, there¡¯s a high possibility that the desi version might surpass the original. The star-studded cast, featuring Kay Kay Menon and Sikander Kher, adds an extra layer of excitement to the series. Citadel: Honey Bunny is the Indian chapter of the American web series Citadel, created by Josh Appelbaum, Bryan Oh, and David Weil, with the Russo Brothers serving as executive producers.

Samantha has taken on a bold role in this series, mirroring that of Priyanka Chopra in the original one. Going by the teaser, her chemistry with Varun Dhawan looks sizzling. She is said to have performed many daring scenes making an impressive transition to action. We all saw a glimpse of it in her previous collab with Raj and DK in The Family Man 2.

Giving credit where it¡¯s due, Samantha shot for the show while battling with a health condition called Mytosis. During the teaser launch, Varun Dhawan went on to share how her dedication and resilience inspired the entire team that despite health challenges, she was able to perform remarkably.

Comparison between Priyanka Chopra¡¯s OG and the spinoff is inevitable. Many viewers took to the comments section to share their opinions on it. One wrote, ¡°It looks better than Hollywood wala CITADEL¡±.

Another one gushed, ¡°This Looks So Good. Even Better Than The Original One.¡±

A third comment read: ¡°Varun needs this kind of film to show his talent and samantha and varun look hot in doing action¡±.
