For those who are unaware, HBO and Amazon announced a contract in December 2022 under which consumers in some markets can subscribe to HBO Max through channels in the Prime Video app. HBO Max, the most expensive OTT subscription in the nation at $16 (Rs 1,314) per month for ad-free streaming, may soon be available in India given that it is now unavailable there.

I didn¡¯t renew hotstar to have hbo cancelled with less than month¡¯s notice. Also how can you sell hotstar subscription to a user with the promise of certain channels being available and then take it down from the platform after the purchase??

All the HBO material on Hotstar will be available until the end of the month, thus, if you have missed out on something, now could be the greatest opportunity to catch up on the same. Also take notice that IPL 2023 will not stream on Hotstar for the first time in years; instead, Jio Cinemas will offer it for free in 4K resolution.

As reported by Deadline, according to the report, Amazon Video is set to become the new home for HBO programming in India, even though this is not confirmed as of now. ¡°Indian industry analysts are speculating that Prime Video would be a natural fit for the HBO content ¨C either as part of its SVoD service or with the launch of HBO Max as part of the Prime Video Channels offering in India," the report claimed.

Some HBO programmes are already available to stream on Prime Video. They include Raised by Wolves, Gossip Girl, The Flight Attendant, and And Just Like That.
