Studio Ghibli¡¯s upcoming deeply moving animated film, Grave of the Fireflies, has its OTT release date set now. It is set in Kobe close to the conclusion of World War II and is based on a short tale by Akiyuki Nosaka that won the Naoki Prize. Titled as the Best Animated Feature at the 1994 Chicago International Children's Film Festival, the anime will be yours to watch very soon. Grave of the Fireflies will be released on Netflix on 15th September 2024.
Plot
After World War II, Seita and Setsuko, two orphans, struggle to survive in Japan. But because of the harsh nature of society, they come to the depressing realization that they will never be able to escape the horrors of battle or obtain enough food to survive. As per the streaming platform, this film Grave of the Fireflies, which won the Best Animated Feature award at the 1994 Chicago International Children's Film Festival, demonstrates that not all anime stories are violent sci-fi standoffs or fantastical visions of fairies.
