Plot
As per Prime Video, the origin narrative of the biblical character who rose to become Israel's most famous and celebrated monarch is told in House of David. Along with David's rise, the show also centers on King Saul, the once-powerful leader who succumbs to his own arrogance. In accordance with God's will, the prophet Samuel crowns the ostracized youth as the new king. David is on a quest to uncover and realize his destiny greatness while Saul loses control of his kingdom.
The streaming service adds that due to its expansive imaging, action, costumes, and exotic setting, House of David is already being compared to serialized epics like Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings. The trick, according to Erwin, is that those cherished works of fiction were inspired by David's biblical journey.
Cast and crew
David is portrayed by Michael Iskander following a protracted casting process. King Saul is played by Ali Suliman, and Queen Ahinoam is played by Ayelet Zurer. Martyn Ford portrays Goliath, and Stephen Lang plays Samuel, the prophet who anoints David. Among those in supporting roles are Indy Lewis, Ethan Kai, and Alexander Uloom.
