Madhuri Lauds 90s Heroines Choosing Evolved Roles, Says Can't Blame Heroes Playing Lover Boy
Madhuri Dixit feels that while the 90's heroes still 'need to do song and dance,' her female counterparts are finding roles that allow them to stay true to their age.
Maja Ma, an upcoming movie featuring Madhuri Dixit as a mother, Pallavi Patel from the middle class. She plays the role of a stereotypical middle-aged housewife, famous for both her dancing and her cuisine.
While promoting her film, Madhuri Dixit discusses that she feels the 90's heroes still 'need to do song and dance,' her female counterparts are finding roles that allow them to stay true to their age.
Madhuri asserts that 90s heroes must dance and sing for commercial films
As per Dhak Dhak Girl, mainstream movies' hero stereotypes call for them to maintain a youthful appearance.
Madhuri Dixit said in an interview, ¡°I cannot blame the heroes because the kind of commercial films that are made, they are needed to do a song, dance and all. So, they are always looking for something that keeps them young, which is not bad.¡±
Way to Go, 90s Heroines!
She further added, ¡°As a woman, I think what I am doing or Juhi is doing or Raveena is doing or anyone of us is doing is wonderful because we are going forward in life and we are true to ourselves on screen as well.¡±
The majority of her former coworkers from the 90s, such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Akshay Kumar, continue to appear in love parts. But some of her female coworkers, including Juhi Chawla, Raveena Tandon and Sonali Bendre have diversified into more character-driven themes and female lead series.
Madhuri recalled her performances in movies like Raja, Mrityudand, and Anjaam and said she enjoys playing women who are empowered. Additionally, she claimed that OTT platforms had significantly aided female performers in their 40s in finding decent employment.
Madhuri¡¯s Take On OTT
Dixit discussed how OTT platforms have made it easier for female actors to find successful roles even after turning 40. The actress claims that there are no restrictions on how successful the movie can be commercial because of OTT and the types of topics being portrayed.
She continued by pointing out how storytelling, the audience, and stories themselves are all developing. Better content is being consumed by people. Women are the subject of so many stories today.
Anand Tiwari is the director of Maja Ma. As Madhuri's spouse, Gajraj Rao appears in it. Among others, the movie also stars Barkha Singh, Sheeba Chaddha, and Srishti Srivastava.
