Meet Chandan Kumar, the brain behind Panchayat who is getting calls from Aamir Khan and YRF

Did you know the brain behind Panchayat also worked on TVF's popular show Tech Conversations with Dad? Chandan Kumar, the creator behind one of the most popular and beloved web series, is receiving widespread acclaim following the release of its third season. His fame has skyrocketed, to the point where even Aamir Khan has reached out to collaborate with him.

Kumar hails from a small village called Siyarampur near Patna and did his engineering from Dehradun in 2011. After getting campus placement, he started working in tech sector for two years in Bhubaneshwar. However, his passion lay in creative writing. While doing his job, he started contributing satires for a website Faking News. Soon, he joined them permanently and moved to Mumbai. Subsequently, he joined TVF, where he embarked on his journey as a scriptwriter.

After the grand success of the show, he is now getting calls from Yash Raj Films and Aamir Khan. "Aamir Khan se direct call nahin ayaa. Production house se calls aajate hain (I didn¡¯t get a call from Aamir Khan but I do receive calls from production houses). Meetings and discussions happen. Even I want to collaborate, so whenever I get a call, I pitch the stories. The gap between pitching the script and things materialising is big," he was quoted as saying.

Did Chandan Kumar charge a whopping Rs 5 crores for Panchayat?

The rumours have been doing the rounds that Chandan Kumar who has also written shows like Humorously Yours (2016) and F.A.T.H.E.R.S. (2017) charged a whopping Rs 5 crores for the show. The news however is untrue. Rubbishing the claims, he told Digital Commentary in an interview, "Ismein koi sacchai nahin hai (There is no truth to these rumours). These are just conspiracy theories. Pata nahin yeh kaun si theory hai. Bhagwan kae yeh sach ho jaye (I don¡¯t know where these rumours started. I wish they turn out to be true."
