The story of the series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez, by Ryan Murphy, has generated a great deal of controversy due to its inaccuracies in certain areas. It tells the story of two brothers who brutally murdered their parents while attempting to cover it up. In 1989, Lyle and Erik Menendez were found guilty of killing their parents in Beverly Hills. The second part of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's Netflix anthology series, goes back to the notorious true crime story. After the latest release, the show quickly gained popularity. Where are Lyle and Erik Menendez now?
According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Erik and Lyle Menendez are serving out their life terms at the RJ Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, California.
Following their conviction, the two were taken apart and sent to separate prisons. Over the next few years, Lyle kept asking to be moved to be closer to his brother. Finally, in February 2018, it was approved when Erik was transferred from Mule Creek State Prison in Northern California to Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego. On April 4, the brothers were eventually put in the same cell block.

Is the show inaccurate?
Erik Men¨¦ndez, one of the convicted, has released a statement in which he has called out the recently released Ryan Murphy series. Menendez said in an online statement that the drama series continued to depict them both in "ruinous character portrayals" through his wife Tammi Menendez's X account.

¡°It is with a heavy heart that I say, I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent,¡± Menendez wrote.
In addition, he expresses sadness about what he sees as a regression in our knowledge of childhood trauma and condemns the show for spreading false information and defamatory remarks.
