'Nobody Took Me Seriously', Anil Kapoor On Pitching '24' To All Platforms Without Any Success
Anil claimed in a recent interview that many professionals in the field were afraid to produce a long-form show ten years ago
¡°Maska hai maska¡ ek dum jhakaas!¡±
The Jhakaas actor Anil Kapoor who was on cloud 9 recently after he becoming a grandfather, is now all set to take a step ahead and set the world of OTT on fire.
The actor will soon me seen in ¡®The Night Manager¡¯ with Aditya Roy Kapoor.
Anil claimed in a recent interview that many professionals in the field were afraid to produce a long-form show ten years ago.
He further stated that his colleagues had also recommended him not to join in the American TV series.
A limited TV series didn't thrill many people in India at the time, according to Anil.
He said that there was no third season of the show, possibly because of financial constraints. The popular spy drama, which debuted in India on a TV station in 2013, was purchased by Anil. After appearing in the international version, he adapted 24 for Indian television. 24's second season debuted in 2016.
In an interview with news agency PTI, Anil said, ¡°Even when I was doing 24 internationally everybody said you are a big screen, mainstream actor, how can you go to television. For me, it is always about the story and role. I wanted to experience it (TV), no matter what happens. I wanted to get that world back here as it was very exciting. The way I pitched 24 to all the platforms (here) was, 'I am going to give you 24 good films' but nobody took me seriously except for a few of them.¡±
Anil added that waiting for the appropriate roles and avoiding being forced into clich¨¦d roles is the "trickiest" job for an actor.
¡°Before they can box you, you move to the next. You are ready to fail, ready to fall flat, and all of that. I knew there is a possibility that it might go wrong but I was taking that plunge. And at times, there is greed and you feel that there might not be any role that will be offered to you. But then you sit at home, relax with family, and then the right offer comes to you,¡± the actor added.
The actor even spoke about how he has made career with adaptations.
In the same interview he said, ¡°I just look at the role, the script.... (My) films like 'Woh Saat Din', 'Eeshwar', 'Virasat', 'Judaai', 'Beta', '24' and others have been adaptations and they are all successful. I have built my career on this. "
