'One Piece' Series Surpasses Game Of Thrones's Budget; Each Episode Costs 18 Million Dollars!
At least $144 million was reportedly spent on One Piece Live Action, which is around $40 million more than the anime it is based on
Fab news for One Piece fans!
Despite the uneven results of its live-action anime adaptations, Netflix is all in for its version of One Piece. Monkey D. Luffy (Iaki Godoy) and his band of kind-hearted pirates venture into the Grand Line in order to locate the mysterious One Piece. The popular anime series currently has well over a thousand episodes, thus the adventure is still going on today. Just a portion of that epic tale is covered in the first season of the Netflix version.
One Piece's live-action Netflix adaptation is apparently one of the costliest shows ever produced with an episode budget of $18 million, according to Collider. One Piece has a larger per-episode budget than The Sandman, See, Game of Thrones, and The Mandalorian, all of which cost $15 million each episode, to give you an idea of how expensive that is in comparison to other enormous shows.
At least $144 million was reportedly spent on One Piece Live Action, which is around $40 million more than the anime it is based on has spent during its more than 20 years on television.
Netflix primarily cast lesser-known stars in the show's primary cast to fill the legendary parts. This includes Taz Skylar as Sanji, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Iaki Godoy as Luffy. Mackenyu plays Zoro.
According to reports, South Africa, Spain, and Mexico served as the locations for Netflix's live-action One Piece series. These countries are all close to the ocean, which is significant for a drama about pirates.
Production And Sets
According to Collider, the production designer talked about the sets and more.
¡°First of all, there were so many sets. This is such a big world. It was like designing four feature films because every two episodes is one part of the East Blue world, and then we move on to a completely new part. We don't see anything from the previous part. We see Garp¡¯s ship and we see the Going Merry a bit later on crossing over, but otherwise, you just move on to all these different sets. We kind of had a running joke while we were making the show, my team, that our favorite set was always the next set that we were building because we fell in love with that one next.¡±
You can stream One Piece Live Action On Netflix Now. It has 8 episodes.
