Parari OTT Release Date: Harisankar and Sangeetha Kalyan headlined a social drama last year which opened to mixed reviews. Written and directed by debutant Ezhil Periyavedi, the Tamil film is now gearing up for its OTT debut. Watch Parari on Aha Tamil starting February 28, 2025. For the unversed, the film is produced under Harishankar¡¯s banner itself which is Kala Films Private Limited.

Parari¡¯s plot summary

Parari revolves around Maran, a man from a lower caste in Tiruvannamalai who faces intense resistance when he falls in love with Devaki, a woman from a dominant caste. Their relationship is complicated by the deep-rooted caste tensions in their village, where conflicts flare over control of a hilltop and access to water for Maran¡¯s community.

As the story unfolds, the focus shifts from local caste struggles to broader societal issues when both Maran and Devaki, along with other villagers, secure jobs at a factory in Karnataka. There, they encounter a new form of discrimination: linguistic prejudice. The tension escalates with the ongoing Cauvery water dispute. The factory owner, while supportive of his Tamil-speaking workers, is a figure caught in the middle, unable to influence the larger power dynamics at play.

Parari¡¯s review

The Times of India rated the movie 2 out of 5 and a part of their review read, ¡°The movie¡¯s message about equality gets lost because it¡¯s so bloody, especially when things get crazy. Everyone is quick to lose their minds and there seems to be no adult in the room. The songs are like obstacles in a story that¡¯s already slow - at over 140 minutes, it¡¯s repetitive and drawn out. Parari raises important questions, but in trying to address everything, it ends up saying very little.¡±

Parari¡¯s technical crew consists of music composer Sean Roldan, cinematographer Sridhar and editor Sam RDX. It also stars Guru Rajendran, Samrat Suresh, Pugazh Mahendran and V. Bremnath among others.
