Ever seen someone¡¯s love life go pop in real time?
Well, buckle up. With Pop the Balloon LIVE, a high-speed dating show where your shot at romance can vanish with the sound of a burst balloon, Netflix is about to blow up your Thursday nights. Starting April 10, this fan-favorite internet series gets a fresh makeover, celebrity spice, and a live-stream twist that promises drama, laughter, and heartbreak - all while you watch it happen, moment by moment.
More about Pop the Balloon LIVE
Created by Bolia Matundu and Arlette Amuli, who also return as executive producers for the Netflix version, Pop the Balloon was first known for its quick, quirky format with people lining up for a shot at romance, but getting eliminated if someone "pops" their balloon. One simple pop means the end of your love story on the show. In the live version, the drama is all happening as you watch it in real time.
Meet the cast of Pop the Balloon LIVE
While the show continues to feature regular people searching for real connections, this new version also brings in popular faces from reality TV. Viewers will see names they recognize stepping into the game of love. Johnny Bananas, known for his over-the-top energy on The Challenge, is joining in. Chase DeMoor from Too Hot To Handle is also ready to take his chances. Farrah Abraham, famous for her role on Teen Mom, is now showing up in a whole new light, and Zaina Sesay from The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On brings her own experience to the table.
Guiding everyone through the highs and lows of this live love experiment is Nigerian-American comedian and actress Yvonne Orji, best known for playing Molly Carter in HBO¡¯s Insecure. The original creators of the YouTube version, Arlette Amuli and Bolia Matundu, are joining the show as executive producers.
What to expect from the Netflix version of Pop the Balloon LIVE?
The new Pop the Balloon LIVE is still about people meeting and deciding, very quickly, if they want to give love a chance or pop that balloon and send someone packing. But now that it¡¯s streaming live, every moment counts. Viewers at home will see everything unfold without filters or second takes. With the addition of celebrity contestants, the show becomes even more unpredictable.
Executive producer Matt Sharp explains that this version takes everything fans loved about the original concept and makes it more intense, more emotional, and way more unpredictable. With weekly episodes streaming live on Netflix every Thursday at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT), Pop the Balloon LIVE is ready to shake up your screen and your idea of modern dating.
