Birth's Plot
Birth is a satirical feminist drama thriller that centres on the journey of a woman who must become a mother out of need rather than choice. In the 25-minute short film, Meera, who is eight months pregnant and starting to experience Braxton Hicks and panic attacks, takes us along on her journey. Her husband Sushant proposes she enrol in a maternity care facility for expectant mothers after observing her condition.
Like the other pregnant women, Meera decides to go to "Happy Moms," which is run by the matronly and bossy Mama Nithya. However, Meera is persuaded to join a cult, changing the course of her life irrevocably.
The short film examines how Indian society affects a woman after she becomes a mother.
Here's The First Look Of Birth
Natasha, the producer of this short film stated that her goal in making 'Birth' was to examine how Indian society affects a woman's identity as she becomes a mother.
She said, "I conceptualised ¡®Birth¡¯, to explore how society attempts to reshape a woman's identity as a ¡®good mother¡¯ in a tongue and in cheek way. It was a pleasure working with stellar actors such as Lilette and Shreya, who brought the characters in our minds come, so perfectly to life."
Director Shyam Sunder expressed his hope that the "Birth" theme would strike a chord with the audience.
He said, "The film has a unique vision. It focuses on the personal struggles of the countless women who struggle to maintain their identity in the face of societal pressure through a satirical twist. Lilette and Shreya have done absolute justice to their versatile roles. We hope that the relatable theme of ¡®Birth¡¯ appeals to the audience."
Abeer Mehervish, Aanchal Chauhan, and Natasha Iyer all play crucial roles in the Shyam Sunder-directed and Natasha Malpani Oswal-produced film "Birth."
While you wait for Birth, which will be available to stream on August 27, Disney + Hotstar has a lot more short films that focus on various subjects, like Dum Dum Deega Deega, Itwaar, I am Groot and many more.
