Plot
The Children¡¯s Train is basically based on Viola Ardone's novel. The storyline is set in post-World War II Italy and shows the journey of a 7-year-old boy whose name is Amerigo. Amerigo is shown living in the poverty-stricken neighbourhoods of Naples, before his mother makes the heart-wrenching decision to send him to a wealthier family in northern Italy with the hope to secure his future.
The film that is set against the backdrop of a war-torn scene, its plot revolves around contrasts between the impoverished South and the relatively affluent North.
