Netflix¡¯s upcoming romantic comedy, The Royals, is all set to release on May 9, and it brings with it a perfect mix of old-school royalty and modern-day chaos. Once upon a time in Morpur¡
Set in the fictional royal town of Morpur, the story begins inside a crumbling palace where tradition still tries to hold its ground. Enter Sophia Shekhar (Bhumi Pednekar), a sharp, confident CEO of a modern startup called Work Potato. She¡¯s here on a mission to fix the royal household¡¯s image and pull them out of trouble.
But she didn¡¯t expect to deal with Aviraaj Singh (Ishaan Khatter), the spoiled, party-loving, broke prince who still believes in royal charm but has no clue about the real world. As their two very different worlds collide, it¡¯s not long before fireworks begin. And not just the angry ones. There¡¯s friction, banter, and moments that blur the lines between hate and love.
A royal mix of tradition and today
The Royals is directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, with writing by Neha Veena Sharma. The show is produced by Pritish Nandy Communications. Apart from the lead duo, the show has a strong ensemble including Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra and Luke Kenny among others.
