Thudarum OTT Release Date: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal recently headlined this crime thriller, which significantly won hearts from both critics and audiences. Premiered theatrically on 25th April, the family entertainer is now gearing up for its highly anticipated digital debut. Here¡¯s everything you need to know about it.

1. When and where to watch Thudarum online?

Thudarum will be streaming on JioHotstar starting May 30 in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, who wrote the screenplay with K. R. Sunil, this thriller is bankrolled by M. Renjith through Rejaputhra Visual Media.

This Jakes Bejoy musical is cinematographed by Shaji Kumar and edited by Nishadh Yusuf and Shafeeque V. B. Set in the serene hill town of Ranni, Pathanamthitta, the story follows Shanmugham, affectionately known as "Benz" (Mohanlal). A former stuntman turned taxi driver, Benz leads a modest life with his wife Lalitha (Shobana) and their two children. His prized possession is a vintage Mark 1 Ambassador car, gifted by his mentor, which he cherishes deeply.

However, his world turns upside down when his son¡¯s friend takes the car for a joyride, leading to an accident. The car is subsequently seized by the police after being found involved in a drug-related incident. Benz's desperate attempts to reclaim his beloved vehicle entangle him in a web of unforeseen challenges, affecting his family and community.

4. Thudarum¡¯s review

The Times of India rated the film 3 out of 5, and a part of their review read, ¡°After the homely beginning, once the predicament starts, the script by KR Sunil and Tharun is predictable at every step. The only satisfaction is that the villains are made to pay mercilessly, but ultimately, it is unrealistic and a bit in your face. For Mohanlal fans, his raw magnetism might be exciting, but with its loud and overwritten scenes, the acting lacks nuance all around.¡±

5. Thudarum¡¯s box office performance

Thudarum has emerged as a massive box office success, cementing its place among the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. The film has grossed over ?250 crore worldwide, with approximately ?100 crore coming from Kerala alone, surpassing previous regional records held by films like 2018. Domestically, it has earned around ?116.5 crore, while internationally, it brought in ?85.5 crore, making it one of the few Malayalam films to gross over $10 million abroad.

Its global opening weekend saw the film rank eighth worldwide with earnings of over $7.3 million. With this performance, Thudarum has not only become the third highest-grossing Malayalam film globally but has also made Mohanlal the first actor in Malayalam cinema to deliver two ?100 crore+ films in the same year.
