Made on a reported budget of Rs 200 crore, the movie is set in the socio-fantasy genre and promises an exciting experience for audiences. The plot follows the incredible journey of a newborn who travels through the worlds of gods, humans, and the underworld. The film, initially referred to as Mega 156 to mark it as Chiranjeevi's 156th project, was officially announced on his birthday, 22 August 2023.
Early rumours were suggesting that the film might be a sequel to the 1990 fantasy classic Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, which also starred Chiranjeevi. However, Vyjayanthi Movies clarified on Twitter that they held exclusive rights to produce any derivative works, including a sequel, to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. While the production company did not directly address Vishwambhara¡¯s team, there were speculations that they were hinting at potential legal issues regarding an unauthorized sequel. In response, director Vassishta confirmed that Vishwambhara is an entirely new story, unrelated to the 1990 film.
