Wicked OTT Release Date: In 2024, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande headlined an iconic American musical that went on to win hearts globally. Released theatrically on November 22, the film has been available on Prime Video for rent but there¡¯s no update on its free streaming. Worry not, as the saga is coming soon on another platform. Wicked is ready to stream on Peacock starting March 21, 2025, along with an exciting and immersive sing-along version.

Wicked¡¯s plot summary

Set in the magical land of Oz before Dorothy arrives, Wicked: Part I follows the story of Elphaba, a green-skinned girl with powerful magical abilities. She is misunderstood and feared due to her appearance, but she enrols at Shiz University, where she meets Glinda, a popular and charming student. Though they start off as rivals, their relationship evolves into an unlikely friendship.

As Elphaba discovers corruption within the Wizard¡¯s government and his true intentions, she rebels against the system, leading her to be labelled the "Wicked Witch of the West." Meanwhile, Glinda embraces the public's perception of her as the "Good Witch." The movie ends with a cliffhanger, setting up Wicked: Part II to complete the story which is scheduled for November 2025.

Other than Cynthia and Ariana, the film also stars Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum in key roles. Directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, Wicked is based on the first half of the 2003 musical by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman, which was inspired by Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel. The story reimagines the world of The Wizard of Oz (1939 film) from a new perspective.
