'Does Everyone Think Rape Is A Joke?', Bollywood Slams Deodrant Ad For Promoting Rape Mentality
Bollywood Slams Shots Deodrant Advertisement that has been banned for allegedly promoting rape mindset. From Priyanka Chopra, Sona mohaptra, Richa Chadha and Farhan Akhtar, everyone called it out.
A woman is standing in the grocery store. A group of men stands behind her. One of them says, "We're four and there's only one." Another one asks, "So, who will take the shot?" The woman turns back in shock. She is clearly scared.
If you're wondering what it is, it's an advertisement for a deodorant brand - Layer'r Shot body spray. It is then revealed that the men were talking about the deo and not the woman.
The advertisement is disgusting, tasteless and also promotes rape mentality.
"Deodorant advertisement blatantly promotes the rape mentality in the country. We've issued notice to Delhi Police that FIR must be registered & ad must be immediately taken down from all platforms," said Swati Maliwal, Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women.
The entire country was engaged and in shock to see this advertisement making its way to the TV screens. Bollywood stars like Richa Chadha, Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra and Sona Mohapatra among others slammed the deodorant too.

Farhan Akhtar called the advertisement tasteless.

Richa Chadha asked if everyone thought rape was a joke.
"This ad is not an accident. To make an ad, a brand goes through several layers of decision making. Creatives, script, agency, client, casting¡ DOES EVERYONE THINK RAPE IS A JOKE? Revelatory! This brand, the agency that made this ad need to be sued for the filth they¡¯re serving."

Sona Mahapatra said that theme of the brand was gang rape.

Priyanka Chopra asked how many people thought this was okay.
"Shameful and disgusting. How many levels of clearances did it take for this commercial to be green lit. How many people thought this was ok? I¡¯m so glad that it was called out and now the ministry has taken it down. Appalling!"

Meanwhile, the advertisement has been taken down. The ministry of information and broadcasting (I&B) on June 4 wrote to Twitter, YouTube, and other social media platforms to remove video advertisements of the brand for their alleged obscene content. It also said that an enquiry is being conducted in accordance with the advertising code.
