At a recent event, Akshay Kumar explained why felicitating the martyrs is a great step but it's still not enough. At this event, Akshay was invited to felicitate soldiers who sacrificed their lives at the border and present plaques to their families. He expressed that even though soldiers deserve every bit of the validation and honour, it should not be just about commemorations.
A TOI report claims that Akshay pointed out at the fact that many soldiers belong to a humble background. He said,
TOI
"They are decorated with a lot of medals and that is good. But I looked at their faces. The samman was required for them but they need money too. You have to be practical. I thought how about supporting them financially and that is when I decided to do my bit for each family present at the felicitation ceremony."
In lieu of the Uri terror attack too, he had tweeted his displeasure:
Heartfelt prayer for the bravehearts... This mindless terrorism needs to stop. Bus ho gaya!!! Enough is enough!!! Jai Hind. #UriAttacks
