Amid Terrific Response To Teaser, Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy Is Set To Be Screened At Cannes 2023
Anurag Kashyap's Quentin Tarantino-like film Kennedy is all set to be screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2023.
Anurag Kashyap has been a regular face at the Cannes Film Festival. He once even hung out with Hollywood maverick Quentin Tarantino and had a fanboy moment.
Two days after his film Kennedy's teaser released - which people thought it gave them Quentin Tarantino vibes - the movie starring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat is all set to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Kennedy, for the unversed, is one of five films to be screened under the Midnight Screenings category at Cannes, and it marks a Cannes first for the writer-director.
In 2013, the four-part Bombay Talkies -- in which Kashyap had helmed Murabba
was part of the festival's Special Screenings section.
What is Kennedy about?
The movie is about insomniac ex-cop who was long thought to be dead but is still operating for the corrupt system while looking for redemption.

About the film, Kashyap said, "I have lived with this character since I was writing for Sudhir Mishra and he used to tell me stories of this mad policeman¡ Years later, during the lockdown, an incident in Mumbai triggered an idea and I took the cop from Sudhir Mishra¡¯s stories and put him around that incident and Kennedy was born."
As a director, Anurag Kashyap has been at the Cannes for Gangs Of Wasseypur 1 and 2, Ugly and Raman Raghav 2. As a producer, he has been to the prestigious film festival for Udaan, Peddlers, Monsoon Shoutout and The Lunchbox.
The Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place between May 16 to May 27.
Other Indian films to be screened at the Cannes film festival -
Manipuri maestro Aribam Syam Sharma¡¯s Ishanou and Kanu Behl's Agra (also starring Rahul Bhat) are the other Indian film which will represent India at the Cannes Film Festival 2023.
