The film also received positive reviews. Chhaava is a period drama, starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.

Chhaava becomes Vicky Kaushal's best opener

Vicky Kaushal is in the limelight because of Chhaava, the biggest film of his career. The period drama opened to a thunderous response at the ticket window yesterday.

According to Sacnilk, a trade website, it earned Rs 31 crore (nett) on the first day. In doing so, it beat Sky Force to emerge as the highest opener of 2025. Akshay Kumar's action thriller had earned Rs 15.30 crore on its first day. This is also the actor's highest opener ever. The honour was earlier held by Uri, which opened at Rs 20 crore

Chhaava is Vicky Kaushal's first release after Bad Newz, which hit the screens last year and made a decent response at the Indian box office.

Chhaava is a period drama, directed by Laxman Utekar. The film centres on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film's cast includes Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Divya Dutta, and Alok Nath. The music is composed by AR Rahman.
