The highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time, The Legend Of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, was all set to be released in India on Dec 30. However, the censor certificate given to Pak movie has been revoked. Directed by Bilal Lashari, the movie is an adaptation of the 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt.
Ameya Khopkar, the president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's cinema wing, said on Twitter that the filmĄ¯s release has been stalled after a warning given by the party. "... the screening of The Legend of Maula Jatt has been completely cancelled...," he said.

Fawad Khan was recently asked about the India release of the movie. In an interview with CNN, he said, "That would be great, obviously. If it were to happen, itĄ¯s a great way to handshake. It is kind of like those sweets and delights we send across to one another on Eid and Diwali. Films and music is that kind of an exchange. But things are a bit heated still, letĄ¯s see. IĄ¯ve heard it may release and it may not. So, let us see."
Talking about the recent recognition and accolades for Pakistani cinema, the actor who was last seen in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil said, "I am a small part of the industry and the kind of boundaries it pushed, the business it did and the filmmaking styleĄall of it proved great for Pakistani cinema."
As per PTI, the release of the movie has been postponed indefinitely. "We have been informed by the distributors that the release of the film has been postponed. We were told this two-three days ago. No further date has been shared with us," an official from the multiplex chain told PTI.
An industry insider had said the film's release was stalled due to resistance from certain sections of society.
"Zee Studios had acquired the rights of The Legend of Maula Jatt as they were expecting the film to do well. But due to resistance from certain sections, the decision was made to not release the movie," he told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
