Director Anees Bazmee Shares Why Kartik Aaryan & Not Akshay Kumar Was Cast In Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Ever since it was announced that Kartik Aaryan will be seen in the lead role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, a lot of fans were upset as they wanted the OG Akshay Kumar who essayed the role of Dr. Aditya "Adi" Shrivastav in the first installment to return in this film as well. Finally, Anees Bazmee, the director of the second part, has revealed why Aaryan was cast in the film and not Akshay Kumar.

While launching the trailer of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Bazmee said, "Akshay is a great actor and a great friend. Vidya is a great actor and did very well (in Bhool Bhulaiyaa). But the script didn¡¯t give us the liberty to bring them on board."

He added, "We didn¡¯t want to bring the two onboard without any purpose. This story did not permit us to bring them".

He also answered why Kartik Aaryan was chosen for the role.

"When I first saw his film, I called Kartik, as when I like someone¡¯s acting in their film I usually praise them for their performance. So I saw his film and I liked his work. So when we were talking about the film casting with Murad and Bhushan our first choice for the film was Kartik if he does it, it would be good as he is naughty and funny, so I thought he was apt for the role."

Meanwhile, Vijay Balan, the actress who played Manjulika in the original film, has showered praises upon the trailer of sequel.

Kartik Aaryan has also reacted to comparisons with Akshay Kumar.

"I never wanted to draw this comparison. People shouldn't do it. I loved Akshay in Bhool Bhulaiyaa. I have grown up watching him, we all have grown up watching him. Woh comparison kabhi naa hi karein toh better hai (It's better if you don't compare us)".

"We have taken that world (of the previous film) but everything else is new, of our own. I hope people will love it in its own new dynamic world that we have created with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Comparisons will be there, but I hope people remember this film for its own," he said.

For the unversed, actor Rajpal Yadav will reprise his role of Chhota Pandit in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 as well. Also starring Kiara Advani and Tabu, the film will hit the screens on May 20, 2022.
