Kartik Aaryan To Play Real Life Sportsman In ¡®Chandu Champion¡¯, Film's 1st Look Impresses Fans

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan is all set to play a real-life sportsman in Kabir Khan¡¯s upcoming sports drama ¡®Chandu Champion¡¯. The first schedule of the film was recently completed and gave the actor¡¯s fans a glimpse of his looks. The intense man on the poster is now breaking the internet.

Chandu in the poster is a man with a bruised face donning a jacket with India written on it.

While sharing the poster, Kartik wrote alongside, ¡°When INDIA is written on your chest, it¡¯s a different feeling Proud to be playing a real hero a man who refuses to give up #ChanduChampion #FirstLook End of Schedule 1 #London.¡± The film is a Nadiadwala production and is reportedly based on the life of Murlikant Petkar.

While appreciating Kartik¡¯s look, several users took to the comment section and dropped their reactions. One user wrote, "Your next performance as Chandu Champion is definitely going to make all of us proud." Another fan said, "The haircut looks sexier on you." Third commented, "Woah this is so amazing." ¡°Damn, the intense look dignifies it all¡±, the fourth shared.

A source close to ETimes revealed, ¡°He was running a high fever, but he still flew to London because the shooting schedule was critical. The production schedule in London was very important because the location bookings could not be rescheduled. Kartik realised the importance of starting the shoot on time.¡±

¡°He shot for the underwater sequences and other challenging scenes while still having a fever of more than 101 degrees. Kabir was impressed with his actor's dedication.¡± Announcing the film¡¯s title, Kartik took to his Instagram and wrote, "Chandu Nahi. Champion Hai Main. Chandu Champion on 14th June 2024."

Bonus Insight: Chandu Champion has a special connection with the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Before his passing, Sushant had committed to working on another sports biopic, as per a report by ETimes. The project, based on the extraordinary life of Murlikant Petkar, a physically challenged army veteran and accomplished sportsperson, had no title at the time. Murlikant achieved a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games in 1970 and also at the Paralympics in Germany in 1972.

The report further indicated that Sushant expressed great admiration for the sportsman's story in 2016, finding immense inspiration in Petkar's passion and determination to pursue his dreams. This interest was sparked from the moment the narrative was shared with him. But alas, he left much before this project could take off.
