Kiran Rao's Oscar-contending film Laapataa Ladies solidified her status as a filmmaker, but many still associate her success with her former husband and actor, Aamir Khan. In a recent conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan on her chat show What Women Want, Rao admitted that Aamir has played a big role in her life but added that it's unfair to credit him for her success.

Kiran Rao expressed how she thinks it's 'low' when host Kareena asked her how she feels about her success is attributed to Aamir Khan. She explained ¡°It is natural. He has been known to do such quality work. I attribute a lot of success in life to having a very supportive and bright partner who intellectually matches me and supports everything I do. He has played a big role in my life, but for others to attribute my accomplishments solely to him is a¡ and I think a lot of women are accustomed to that happen to them.¡±
Aamir's lectures close to mansplaining: Kiran

She said, ¡°I would like to say¡ he can go off and lecture. For he will give certain lamba lectures about things sometimes and those, I don¡¯t like. I mean, it¡¯s not quite mansplaining, but coming close.¡±

Kiran Rao made her directorial debut with the 2011 film Dhobi Ghat.
