Nana Patekar is a controversial name in showbiz, a glimpse of which was unveiled by the allegations made by actress Tanushree Dutta recently. The actor has now made it to the headlines and again for the wrong reason. A video of him getting angry and whacking a fan has gone viral.

Nana was in UP for the shooting of his upcoming film with Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma. Titled Journey, the movie also stars Utkarsh Sharma and revolves around the relationship between a father who suffers from dementia and his son. Reportedly, Nana got angry because the fan interrupted during his rolling shot.

Soon after the video of Nana whacking the fan went viral, several videos took to the comment section and shared their thoughts.
One user wrote, ¡°Actors in India are treated as demigods. Time to treat them as humans and not give them undue respect and attention.¡± Another commented, ¡°If you could have given him back doubly it could have been fair enough. Height of arrogance. The public doesn't encourage such behaviour.¡±

For the unversed, Nana signed Journey much before narrating voice to Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2.
Nana Patekar recently made a comeback to the silver screen after a five-year hiatus with Vivek Agnihotri's The Vaccine War. Before this, he played an antagonist in Rajinikanth's Kaala (2018). In The Vaccine War, Nana portrayed the character of Balram Bhargava who was known for his contribution to the development of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This incident reminds people of Govinda¡¯s infamous 2008 case where he suffered repercussions for slapping a fan.
Govinda had slapped a fan named Santosh Bateshwar Rai during the filming of Money Hai Toh Honey Hai at Mumbai's Filmistaan Studio. Santosh filed a complaint in February 2009, later appealing to the Bombay High Court after alleging inaction by the police. Although the High Court dismissed the appeal, Santosh took the case to the Supreme Court.

In 2017, the Supreme Court ruled in Santosh's favour, directing Govinda to issue an unconditional apology and pay Rs 5 lakh in compensation.
Under the Indian Penal Code, physically assaulting someone, including slapping or hitting, is regarded as assault, constituting a punishable offence under Section 352 of the IPC. If charged, Nana may be subject to a maximum of three months in jail, a fine up to Rs 500, or both.
