Indiatimes got candid with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and spoke to him about winning the best actor award once again in 2020, having this star image, to what he did in this pandemic and lot more.
The man has has no air of stardom and is more than okay to lose it because he believes in his craft and says that¡¯s one thing no can take away from
him.
Indiatimes got candid with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and spoke about him winning the best actor award once again in 2020, having this star image, to what he did in this pandemic and lots more.
To begin with, we asked Nawaz that this year too he won the best actor Filmfare award for Raat Akeli Hai , and seems like 2020 has been very good for him, to which the actor replied,
¡°As an actor it was very nice, but as Nawaz it was bad as it was for you and everyone¡±.
Thanking all my dear friends out there, who have shown an overwhelming response by watching my film #RaatAkeliHai & made me win the #BestActorAward

Talking about how 2020 has been for everyone, we asked Nawaz to describe this year by sharing his experience,
¡°I think we all did introspection as it was the most difficult time we are were facing. I utilised the time very well, I watched my favourite actors' movies. I really needed some time for myself where I could interact with myself, I was working nonstop for 10 years, so I had reached the saturation level.
And then this unfortunate time arrived and I gave myself a lot of time. I designed my work as an actor by watching my favourite actor¡¯s films. I watched all kind of films, right from Anthony Hopkins, Daniel Day- Lewis movies, and then I watched Dilip Sahab¡¯s and even Kamla Hasaan¡¯s movies.¡±
When asked what his learning from this year was, he said,
¡°I learned that the nature gave us time to pause ourselves as we were becoming very materialistic, and stop all our desire and if we don¡¯t stop then we might face even worse. So I feel we should start being more loving, caring towards people and nature.¡±
He further added, ¡°We can survive our lives with very little things, we want to earn so much money and in that we lose so many beautiful things. But did you see what we required the most in lockdown- it was food, all the luxury around was of no use. We didn¡¯t need car, big house or bank balance that time, what was important was food. It was the time to learn and grow and whoever utilises this time will come out as a bigger and better person. I hope the ending desire ends one day.¡±
Nawaz has come a long way, we asked if he had the faith he would make it big, ¡°Frankly speaking, I had faith that even if I will get one scene to do, I will do something magical. And I will never do clich¨¦d thing.
He further went on adding, ¡°I never shy away from what characters I do. After having this star image, there are lot of people who tell him don¡¯t do this or that, Manto mat karo, chalegi nahi. But I don¡¯t believe in this I don¡¯t believe that a hero should have a good image, he should have an idealistic image.¡±
Nawaz expressed how these formula films never impressed him and he¡¯s strongly against it, ¡°
We have been watching this formula where there is one good looking hero, with five songs, one heroine who¡¯s crazy for him and other supporting actors who cannot stop raving about the hero in the film, I don¡¯t believe in this hero image characters and never liked them, whether someone will feel bad with this statement, but I have never liked this formula films and the heroes who play in it.¡±
The actor even said he wants to do romantic film but not the kind of romance Bollywood makes, ¡°And this is something I never want to do. I also want to do romantic films, but not the Bollywood romance, the one who has real and raw story like people actually have in a day to day life.
Today I have a choice to say no, earlier I didn¡¯t have that choice, like for example when someone will get me a gangster role, I will say I am done with it because I will not do that with whole heartedly.¡±
We asked Nawaz what he has to say on becoming an inspiration to many,
¡°Yes I know I have become inspiration for many, but what interest me when they are inspired by my craft, my work. Not that I was a small town boy and made it big in this industry. I feel more happy when people, get inspired by my work and my movies rather than my journey.¡±
Lastly we asked the actor if he has the fear of losing the stardom and how will I survive.
Firstly, I don¡¯t consider myself as a star. And even if I lose everything I don¡¯t mind, because I have my craft. I have trained myself day by day, year by year and that¡¯s my identity. My identity is not being a star or the stardom. I am known because of my talent and I will keep that very carefully all my life.¡±
The actor left us impressed once again.
